LASIK vision correction procedure corrects any corneal shaping that produces a patient's impaired vision. By removing corneal tissue and reshaping the cornea the patient receives improved vision. After LASIK patients will find that their vision improves immediately and will often be better than their original vision has ever been.
The patient is kept wide awake, but given a topical anesthetic eye drop that stops them from feeling any of the pain from the laser. If a patient has a history of anxiety, an anti- anxiety pill will be given during the procedure as well.
