A new generation of extended wear soft contact lenses have been introduced that the FDA has approved for up to 30 days of continuous wear. Not everyone can tolerate 30-day extended wear lenses for a full month of continuous wear, just as some people cannot wear 7-day extended wear lenses safely and comfortably for a full week. Flexible wear may be a safe and comfortable alternative if you are unable to tolerate full-time continuous wear of extended wear lenses.

The Continuing Saga of RK, PRK, or LASIK: My Experience with One of These Eye Surgeries
Submitted by administrator on Mon, 02/08/2010 - 02:00Not long after RK, or radial keratotomy, came a new technique for shortening the focal length of the nearsighted eyeball. This was the long awaited PRK, photorefractive keratotomy. The procedure reshapes the cornea, in effect, shortens the focal length. A laser with low-heat UV radiation removes corneal material literally microscopic layers at a time. The procedure is robotic; the laser is pre-programmed, literally vaporizing a few molecules with each pulse from just the right place on the corneal surface.

Considering Lasik Surgery?
Submitted by administrator on Tue, 01/26/2010 - 10:01I was in the fourth grade when I was told I needed glasses from the visiting eye doctor who came to our school on his annual visit. Once I had the examination done and glasses fitted, I was amazed at how well I could see the blackboard. Walking home, which everyone did back then, was a wonderful surprise to realize I could see the stop sign crystal clear two blocks away. But as time passed and I got older, my eyes grew worse with each year and I depended solely on my eyeglasses to see, even my hand out in front of me was blurry. Reading a paperback became a tough decision.
