Since I first heard about it in my early twenties I've considered having corrective surgery on my eyes. My vision is not terrible. I'm near sighted by I can still see without my glasses, but how nice it would be to lay in bed and see the guide on my TV without wearing my contacts or glasses! And how great would it be to not have to continually buy and clean my contacts...or accidentally fall asleep wearing them and wake up with dry scratchy eyes or even worse eye ulcers! So with all the changes in my life I've decided this is the year.

How to Wait for Your Lasik Procedure
Submitted by administrator on Thu, 02/04/2010 - 14:00Waiting to have a procedure start is always a difficult thing. The time spent sitting in a chair in a waiting room gives a person too much time to think about all of the things that could go wrong during that procedure.
I've been through Lasik procedures twice and so I know what to expect. Knowledge is power and because I think it's important to know as much about any procedure I decided to help others by letting them know what goes on in the waiting room of Lasik clinic.
A Day in the Life of a Child Having Eye Muscle Surgery for Exotropia Strabismus
Submitted by administrator on Mon, 02/01/2010 - 18:00I am writing this to help other parents feel more at ease about exotropia strabismus surgery for their child. It took me over six months to come to grips with my child needing surgery. I kept hearing it was an easy surgery done on many children with no problems. Still I had three different specialists look at my daughter and agree that this type of strabismus surgery needed to be done. I only wish I had read this article I am now writing months ago by another parent so I would have known what to expect and not been so fearful over it.
PRK Eye Surgery Part I: Before the Surgery
Submitted by administrator on Sun, 01/17/2010 - 18:00I've had glasses ever since I was eight years old, and at that time, the doctor said we had waited too long before getting them. So when my mom suggested that she pay for LASIK surgery for my graduation present, I was ecstatic! To be able to see my toes without the aid of glasses seemed too good to be true. We then made an appointment with the most respected eye surgeon in town, because I'm not trusting my vision with just anyone. He had performed her LASIK eye surgery ten years ago and she is now at 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other.
PRK Eye Surgery: The Days After the Eye Surgery
Submitted by administrator on Tue, 12/22/2009 - 14:00After my PRK eye surgery on Tuesday, my mother drove me home. I didn't feel much of anything at this point. The valium that I had taken, mixed with the high levels of adrenaline my body had used, made me very relaxed and exhausted. So the painkiller and the sleeping pill that I was prescribed to take felt a little unnecessary. And after taping the eye shields onto my face (a rather unattractive look), they definitely did make me fall asleep quickly and deeply. The rest of the day after my eye surgery then was uneventful, painless and spent sleeping.
Can't Have LASIK? CRT Lenses May Be Your Answer
Submitted by administrator on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 14:00Can't Have LASIK? CRT Lenses May Be Your Answer
Out of Sight, Not Out of Mind
If you're like me, you've been wearing glasses and/or contact lenses for nearsightedness for many, many years to see even the slightest distance from your face. When you roll out of bed, the first thing you grab is a pair of vision correctors just to use the bathroom, see yourself in the mirror, even to make sure you're wearing matching shoes!
LASIK with Intralase: My Personal Experience with Corrective Eye Surgery
Submitted by administrator on Tue, 12/15/2009 - 18:00I have a specific career in mind that requires 20/20 corrected vision. I already wore contacts and have glasses, so I thought "No Problem!" Then came the positions that also stipulate a minimum of 20/40 vision, UNCORRECTED. I had 20/400 vision in both eyes. My prescription was -3.75 in both eyes. You can imagine the distress and instant panic that hit me when I discovered that requirement. I had always considered getting LASIK, but never really took the steps to look into it. Because of the vision requirements, I had to have it done.

Wondering If You Qualify for Lasik?
Submitted by administrator on Wed, 10/21/2009 - 16:57You may be wondering if you qualify as a candidate for the Lasik procedure. Though every case should be discussed with a qualified Lasik doctor, there are some general guidelines to see if you qualify for Lasik vision correction. First, your eye needs to be fully developed. Anyone under the age of 18 will most likely not qualify for Lasik procedure. If you're under 18 its likely that the shape of your eye will continue to develop over the next several years. This would complicate your results of the Lasik vision correction procedure.
