LASIK is a way to improve your eyesight, but it was also a serious surgery. Though extremely rare, you should be aware of the possibility of these side effects before choosing to have LASIK eye surgery. So many variables can be responsible for the side effects:

Sometimes a side effect of LASIK eye surgery is the development of astigmatism, where there wasn't one. It is not explicitly understood why this occurs, it could be a number of factors such as the unevenness of the patient's eye to the way the laser beam is aligned. This astigmatism is almost always a very small one. But will require you to use glasses or corrective lenses for the most accurate vision.

Less than 5% of people that go through LASIK eye surgery report a loss of best corrected vision after LASIK. Their vision after LASIK was not as good as it was when they had glasses or contact lens is. Though it's usually better than if they didn't they do with the procedure at all. Using glasses however will result in perfect vision. For instance, if you have a vision of 20/400 and when you weren't wearing any type of corrective eyewear and you had 20/20 vision with glasses, or the corrective lenses, then after LASIK your unaided vision would be 20/30, and with contact lenses or glasses. You could very well have 20/20 vision, but with the glasses.

Even though serious side effects concerning LASIK are extremely rare, you should still give a lot more of thought into them before deciding to go through with your procedure. It is best to check with your regular doctor before undergoing any LASIK eye surgery procedure. You also have to check with your doctor as to whether or not any medication you might have to take, after LASIK eye surgery, will affect any of your current medications.
